Cultivating Emotional Balance Three Day Intensive Online Workshop June 19,20,21 2020

oin an original format for learning and integrating the basic tools of Cultivating Emotional Balance. This format has two distinct modules:

A) Collaborative emotional awareness workshop

B) Guided introspective meditation retreat.

You can choose to participate in the full immersion of both A and B or just B, the meditation retreat. The skills and practices in both modules will support the application of cultivating emotional balance in daily life.

Day one focuses on laying the groundwork for emotional awareness and learning how to track emotions, cultivating a basis of joy in meditation and stabilizing attention in the body.

Day two investigates the roots and strategies for working with the emotions of anger and sadness as well as developing mindfulness, introspection and compassion for our mental and emotional habits.

Day three addresses our internal longing for contentment and flourishing, reflections on genuine well-being and a meaningful life, and meditations that establish the clarity of intention and commitment to our own and others well-being.

Our goal is to support the participants in acquiring tools for cultivating emotional balance in daily life. Your guides are Eve Ekman PhD and Ryan Redman MA. They are the core teachers of Cultivating Emotional Balance with a decade’s worth of experience teaching in the fundamental concepts of CEB.

Days are structured as follows.

  • A: Emotion Awareness Workshop:
    • 9am-12pm PDT via zoom with powerpoint instruction, small group breakouts and discussion in real time.
  • B: Contemplative Practice and Meditation:
    • 2-5pm PDT via zoom with clear guided practice and instruction on contemplative themes. This can be used as audio only to promote introspection and will be recorded
      • Can be watched the next morning for those in later time zones.

Cost:

  • Three full days days A&B retreat with unlimited access to all recordings: $300.00
  • Three half day B meditation retreat only with unlimited access to recordings:  $100.00 (For this option only, please contact ceb.course@cultivatingmotionalbalance.org if financial support is needed.)

Ongoing Training

Cultivating Emotional Balance is a 42 hour, secular, emotion and mindfulness skills training designed to help participants improve emotional life through the cultivation of constructive emotional experiences, decrease destructive emotional experiences and developing mental balance. The training is drawn from Western scientific research on emotions and traditional Eastern attention focus (Shamatha) and contemplative (Four Immeasurables), practices.

CEB includes emotion skills, contemplative practices in compassion and mindfulness meditation training designed to improve emotional regulation that can provide stress reduction and enhance interpersonal communication taught through first person exercises, group discussion and dyadic exercises along side technology assisted daily emotion tracking and guided mindfulness practices.

Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) was born during a Mind & with the Dalai Lama in 2000 and tested for efficacy with a randomized control study published in the peer-reviewed journal Emotion, 2011.
